A burglar who injured his scrotum in an attempt to rob a shop is taking legal action against the shop owner for injuries, the shop owner has claimed.
In November 2015, a gang of three men used a sledgehammer to break into Mr Victory’s Centra store in Kingscourt, County Cavan, Ireland.

The break-in failed when police were tipped off before the thieves could do any further damage.
One of the thieves reportedly injured his scrotum during the escape and was taken to the hospital.
All three of them were handed six-month suspended sentences, while one was later jailed for a different offence, the Irish Independent reports.

The shop owner said a solicitor representing the thief had sent claiming damages for the injuries the man received on the premises. Mr Victory told the Irish Independent he was stunned a solicitor would take on such a case.
‘I was just stunned, absolutely stunned when I got the letter,’ he said.
The insurance company has refused to engage with PIAB or accept any responsibility.
‘I’m just trying to highlight that this is happening and maybe we might need to change the law.”
