Former president of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama is seriously daring President Akufo-Addo to prosecute him and his wife over the DKM scam which in some years ago left hundreds of Ghanaians losing their capital.
The DKM scandal which collapsed many companies and left many Ghanaians in frustrating moments happened years ago under the administration of former president Mahama.
Many Ghanaians especially the then opposition party members thought it was really the works of the president and some people who were part of his administration.
However, the now established special prosecuting office by Nana Addo which is reported to be headed by Lawyer Akoto-Ampaw is targeted at prosecuting corrupt officials both in the present and past administrations.
Lawyer Akoto Ampaw is a well-known practitioner who is believed to be a partner of the law firm, Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co, a firm that featured Philip Addison who was the legal counsel for the NPP during the 2012 election petition.
The President, Nana Akufo-Addo after announcing the special prosecuting office said emphatically that the special prosecutor bill will strictly work with only fact and evidence, not hearsay.
He added that the special prosecutor bill will not result in an attempt to chase and punish people – that is witch-hunting.
Former president Mahama speaking at the NDC unity walk at Techiman made an argument that he and Lordina are not the owners of DKM and that any attempt to do an investigation on them concerning the issue will be a waste of time – unsuccessful.
The DKM scandal as explained earlier detail the scam of various microfinance institutions in the Brong Ahafo Region that allegedly spent investments of residents amounting to several millions of Ghana cedis
