Nigerian artiste Yemi Alade and Sarkodie
Although Nigerian artiste Yemi Alade is currently not enamoured of Ghanaian rap star Sarkodie, she had expressed joy at the latter’s help to her in 2016.
In 2016, the singer, who shot to fame following the release of her smash hit single ‘Johnny,’ said Sarkodie made her day when he agreed to feature her ‘Ego’ song.
Yemi posted on her Instagram page that she was happy Sarkodie accepted her request to feature on her song, even though he had ‘chased’ him for a while.
“Kai..@sarkodie1 showed me Pepper.!!I chased him,my Nigerian team chased him, my London team chased him, I almost asked my fans to beg him to have my time.
Our paths hardly crossed we were always chatting from distant parts of the world. One time we were both in London,OFCOS WE STILL DIDN’T GET TO LINK UP.
I didn’t give up,months passed but I knew Sark the beast was the KINDA VIBE MY SONG #EGO on my #MAMAAFRICAAlbum needed. !!

However, in a recent interview with Bola Ray on Starr FM, the Nigerian artiste said she had stopped listening to Sarkodie’s songs because he failed to avail himself for a meeting they scheduled to have in the USA, UK and South Africa.
“I’ve really tried my best to really not go into details but the long and short on why I don’t want to dwell on this is that it is super unfair, unprofessional and unkind for international acts or even artistes to have a dealing with anybody and after agreeing to certain things, you don’t come through at all.. I can count three different countries and three different venues where my team and I had an agreement with the artiste (Sarkodie) in particular and he didn’t come through,” she told Bola Ray on Starr Chat.
“I don’t want to bring in the feminine and masculine inequality we’re experiencing in the industry and I don’t want to link it to that. I was pained as a person but I’ll say it is almost impossible to promote a project that is supposed to be for two people when the other party isn’t coming through at all, the music pretty much suffers,” she added.
According to Yemi Alade, she no longer follows Sarkodie nor listens to his songs.
I don’t listen to his music, no more fan of him… I only work with artistes I’m a fan of. I’m just not a fan of him anymore.”
Speaking to Sarkodie’s manager, Angel, on the matter, he told Citi Showbiz that he was yet to get full details of the story before he could make any statement.
